Challenge 7: Coordinating Organizational Change to Support Our Diversity Goals. Framework to Foster Diversity Homepage 1. What organizational realignments, systems of accountability, resource mobilization and allocation strategies, long-term planning strategies, etc; has your college implemented to ensure the realization of the University’s diversity goals? CURRENT INITIATIVES STUDENT AFFAIRS Tasks related to the implementation of disability services have been realigned to one person versus two to provide for consistency and specialization. Student advisory groups have been established that allow for the process of objective information sharing and decision-making. An EOPC grant has been awarded to develop a web based training program for faculty and staff that would be designated to provide heightened awareness and sensitivity regarding working with students with disabilities. The Director of Multicultural Affairs and the Director of Residence Life are exploring the feasibility of developing a Multicultural Living Learning Center in the residence halls. Draft plans will be finalized by Fall 2003. Multicultural Affairs will take the lead in developing a plan to increase the awareness of the EOPC funding process for equal opportunity programs and activities. BUSINESS SERVICES Penn State Altoona’s HR coordinator is pursuing Diversity Trainer Status, in order to provide Diversity Training to the College particularly for the shift workers who are not able to attend training by UP Trainers throughout the day. BOOKSTORE The Bookstore Advisory Committee meets every semester to solicit input from any interested individuals regarding Bookstore services and communications. It is an open forum format and participation from faculty, staff, and students is encouraged.
