Emergency Relief is dedicated to "Helping the army take care
of its own"
Army Emergency Relief (AER) is a
private non-profit organization with the primary mission of
providing financial assistance to Army Soldiers and their
dependents in time of valid emergency need.
The MG James Ursano Scholarship Fund administered by
AER was established in 1976 as a secondary mission to help
Army families with the costs of post secondary undergraduate
level education, vocational training, and preparation for
acceptance by military service academies for their dependent
children.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be …

Dependent children, stepchildren or legally adopted
children of Army soldiers on active duty, retired, or
deceased while on active duty or after retirement. The
children of Gray Area Retirees are also eligible.

Scholarship applicants must maintain a cumulative grade
point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 grading scale
for funds to be awarded or disbursed. |

Awards are primarily based on financial need, as evidenced
by income, family size, special financial obligations and
circumstances. |

Adma Hammam Shibley Memorial Scholarship in Library Science
This scholarship recognizes and provides financial assistance to undergraduate students planning careers in the field of library science. First consideration is given to undergraduates in the University identified as planning careers in and having a commitment to the field of library science; second consideration is given to undergraduate students enrolled in the College of the Liberal Arts. This scholarship was established in 1981 by Raymond N. Shibley, Penn State Class of 1947, in memory of his family and in honor of his mother, Adma Hammam Shibley, a member of the Pattee Library staff from 1945 to 1949. (more info)
Martha Conner Memorial Award
This scholarship was established to help a student complete the undergraduate program at Penn State. It is available to qualified undergraduate students who plan to go to graduate library school and who need funds to meet necessary college expenses while at Penn State. It was established in 1964 by Grace C. Whitmore in memory of her sister, Martha Conner, who was a member of the University Libraries staff. (more info)
Ava Faltz-Miller Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides recognition and financial assistance to outstanding students who have demonstrated interest in library or information science. Consideration for this scholarship is given to all full-time junior students who are currently enrolled at Penn State, and who have demonstrated interest in library studies, information services, and/or librarianship. The family of Ava Faltz-Miller established this scholarship in her memory in 1992. (more info)
How to Apply
Interested students should submit a letter of application to the Dean of University Libraries, The Pennsylvania State University, 510 Paterno Library, University Park, PA 16802, no later than the last day of classes in spring semester. The letter should include the names of three references who are familiar with the applicant’s library work experience or career interest. When they submit the application letter, students should ask their references to send letters of recommendation to the Dean of University Libraries. The Order Sons of Italy in America awards close to one million dollars annually in scholarships to deserving students through various state and local lodges. In addition, The Sons of Italy Foundation awards several National Leadership Grants yearly.

The Society of Women Engineers is seeking qualified applicants for over 100 individual scholarships varying in size from $1,000 to $5,000, and totaling more than $200,000.

the summer for use during the following academic year. The awards will be made on the basis of academic merit and divided into two categories or students:
General Category 1: Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements. Area of study: open.
General Category 2: Those students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian language, Italian studies, Italian American studies or related field, who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements.

Society of Public Accountants
The Pennsylvania Society of Public Accountants (PSPA) is a professional
membership organization dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of
proficiency among its members. The PSPA has a membership of over 1500 and is
composed of certified public accountants, public accountants, enrolled
agents, and tax practitioners. As current accounting professionals, we
recognize the importance of emphasizing and perpetuating the prestige and
status of the public accounting profession by supporting future accounting
professionals.
The PSPA will be offering three $1,000 scholarships to deserving
accounting students.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be a declared Accounting Major.
- Applicant must be an undergraduate student, having completed a
minimum of 36 credit hours.
- Applicant must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Applicant must attend a Pennsylvania college or university and must
be a Pennsylvania resident.
- Scholarships are given on a competitive basis to applicants who best
satisfy the requirements of high academic merit. Leadership potential,
extra-curricular activities and financial need may also be considered in
determining the award recipients.
- Scholarships are awarded in September and are to be used to offset
the cost of the applicant's education and related expenses. Scholarship
money will be dually made payable to the student and the student's
college or university. Awards can be used for tuition, housing, books or
related expenses.

Pittsburgh Advertising Federation Scholarship
The Pittsburgh Advertising Federation Scholarship Fund was created at The Pittsburgh Foundation to build stronger ties between the Pittsburgh advertising community and college, technical school and university level students entering the advertising field. The motivation for the scholarship is to inspire and reward outstanding candidates who have demonstrated potential success in the field and to bring cultural diversity to the Pittsburgh advertising industry.
The Pittsburgh Advertising Federation Scholarship Fund will provide scholarships generally in the amount of $1,500.00 to
undergraduate students (junior and senior level) who demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in advertising. Smaller or larger awards may be given. The scholarship may be used for undergraduate studies for no more than two years for any one student. Current recipients must reapply if they wish to renew their scholarship.
Scholarship renewals are subject to approval of the Pittsburgh Advertising
Federation's Board of Directors. In order to apply for assistance
through the Pittsburgh Advertising Federation Scholarship Fund a student must
complete the requirements below.
Requirements for application:
- Reside in Southwestern Pennsylvania and attend one of the schools on the School Listing Page (attached to paper application).
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA.
- Demonstrate an academic interest or creative talent in fields of studies pursuant to a career in advertising (studies might include, but are not limited to, advertising, art, business, communications, graphic design, marketing, public relations and writing.)
- Submit an original letter of academic recommendation, to be sent under separate cover, from a faculty member familiar with the students' abilities.
- Provide a current resume as it would be presented to an employer.
- Compose a brief essay, written as a letter, explaining what qualities the student possesses that would qualify them for the scholarship.
- Provide a transcript of the student’s personal academic records and grades, including the last semester.

2006 TALBOTS Women’s Scholarship Fund
Application Deadline – January 3, 2006 or Until 1000 Applications have been received, whichever is earlier.
Applicants must:
- Be women currently residing in the United States;
- Be women who have earned a high school diploma or their GED on or before September 1996;
- Be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full- or part-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited 2 or 4 year college, university, or vocational –technical school;
- Be attending the full 2006-2007 academic year and receiving a degree no earlier than May 2007; and
- Have at least two semesters (24 credit hours or more) remaining to complete their undergraduate* degree as of the beginning of the 2006 fall academic term.
*Students who have previously obtained a bachelor's degree are not eligible to apply.

A $1,500 Scholarship

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is an international
nonprofit scientific and educational society dedicated to the improvement of
drinking water quality and supply. Founded in1881, AWWA is the largest
organization of water supply professionals in the world. Its more than
50,000 members represent the full spectrum of the drinking water community:
treatment pant operators and managers, scientists, environmentalists,
consultants, manufacturers, academicians, regulators and others who hold
genuine interest in water supply and public health. Membership includes more
than 4,000 utilities that supply water to roughly 180 million people in
North America.
The Pennsylvania Section of the AWWA encourages study in fields relating to the water supply industry and in
April 2006 is offering a $1,500 scholarship to eligible students. Students are eligible to apply if:
- They have completed one semester of the college junior year or they are a college senior or graduate level student.
- They are pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in engineering, biology, chemistry, business administration or other field which may lead to a career in the water supply industry,
and

Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania Scholarship for Nursing
The Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania is a non-profit foundation sponsoring a scholarship program dedicated to supporting Pennsylvania residents who are pursuing a program of basic or advanced nursing education. The foundation invites qualified candidates to apply for scholarships that are awarded in the spring of each year for the fall and spring terms or the next academic year.
Applications are available directly from the website at (www.nightingaleawards.org) or a copy, which can be photocopied as needed, is available in the Office of Student Aid, W113 Smith Building - Penn State Altoona.
Application packets must be completed as described on the form and postmarked by April 15, 2002, for consideration. Scholarships will be awarded in the spring of 2002 and must be expended within the upcoming academic year (August 2002 through May 2003). Attendance at the NAP Gala on October 25, 2002 is expected for scholarship recipients who will be honored guests.

General Information: The American Indians Committee of the National Society
DAR, awards scholarships to Native Americans. Only one FRANCIS CRAWFORD MARVIN SCHOLARSHIP is given annually. This award is intended to help a full-time enrolled Native American college student of any age, any tribe, in any state striving to obtain an education. A candidate for this scholarship is judged based on financial need, academic achievement, and a 3.0 GPA or higher. A recipient may reapply for this scholarship and be considered along with other members of the applicant pool.
Qualifications: Applicants must be Native Americas enrolled full-time at a college or university, in financial need, and have a grade point average of at least 3.0. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Scholarship Opportunity from Dominion
Dominion is sponsoring an annual Award of Achievement Collegiate Grant competition for African American high school college-bound students.
This grant is for African American students in the Pennsylvania service area who have distinguished themselves academically and demonstrated positive leadership qualities.
A $3,000 first place, a $2,000 second place, and a $1,000 third place award will be made based upon the determination of an independent collegiate review committee. Students will be judged on their academic profile, letters of recommendation, and a personal interview. The final selection will be made by the first week in May.

PURPOSE
NATAS/Southeast has established a scholarship program as an investment in the future of the television industry in Georgia and the Southeast:

SCHOLARSHIPS and ELIGIBILITY
- Don Elliot Heald Scholarship (up to $5,000) is warded to a student who will be a junior or senior during the 2004-2005 school year at an accredited Georgia institute, college or university.
- NATAS Southeast Regional Scholarships (up to $5,000) are awarded to students who will be juniors or seniors during the 2004-2005 school year at an accredited institute, college or university in Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina or Asheville, North Carolina.

- Letter of recommendation from a professor in the applicant’s major area of study.
- Completed application form, including essay question #17.
If any of the above items are missing, the application will be disqualified.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Judges consider the quality of the work sample, writing ability, television-related experience and academic performance in choosing scholarship recipients.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE

An independent panel of judges will choose recipients for each scholarship. The scholarships will be awarded at the annual Southeast Regional Emmy Awards in June. The Sue Wiseman Scholarship - Honoring youth who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and dedication to the environment.
Introduction
The Sue Wiseman Scholarship recognizes the individual accomplishments of young people who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and dedication to the environment
and who have initiated and carried out a project(s) that addresses littering, illegal dumping, recycling, proper disposal, beautification, or education. An education project must address
one of the other topics listed.
A committee comprised of educators and environmental professionals will
select the winner. One scholarship will be awarded per year. The winner will receive a one-time scholarship in the amount of $1,000, to be made out to
the college/university of the winner's choice. If a school has not been chosen, the scholarship will be held in escrow until the winner's acceptance to a college/university.
The winner will be announced in September. PA CleanWays, Inc. reserves
the right to withhold or withdraw the scholarship in the full amount if
the winner does not attend college within one year after graduation.
Scholarship Terms and Conditions:
Applicants must meet criteria listed below:
- Be a Pennsylvania resident.
- Be 16 to 21 years of age.
- Have identified a problem and worked to find a viable
solution to that problem.
- Demonstrate leadership, initiative, self-motivation, and
a commitment to the environment.

THE MARY ANN FOX SCHOLARSHIP FOR 2005-2006
Condition of Awards
The Mary Ann Fox Scholarship awards are made
available to graduates of Lycoming or Clinton County high schools who have
maintained good standing in both studies and character and whose financial
condition and financial condition of their parents or those whom they are
dependent, is such that they could not otherwise attend college, without
financial assistance.
The awards are made annually (but are subject to
renewal), in varying amounts , depending on the applicant's justification of
need and the amount of money available in the scholarship fund. These
awards are limited to use at four institutions along with their branch
campuses: Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, The Pennsylvania State
University (including PA College of Technology in Williamsport), Lycoming
College and Bucknell University.

The National Federation of the Blind and the
National Federation of the Blind of Pennsylvania award scholarships to high
school seniors and college students who plan to attend college during the next
academic year.
The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) is a national
organization of blind persons that believes in promoting the opportunities of
blind students. There are thirty national scholarships awarded annually
ranging from $3,000 to $12,000. The National Federation of the Blind of
Pennsylvania (NFB of PA) and its network of local chapters is a state
affiliate of the NFB and shares its commitment to aid blind student in
achieving their educational goals. The NFB of PA also offers up to two
college scholarships, each in the amount of $1000. Pennsylvania residents are
eligible for both the national and state scholarship and should submit both
applications according to the separate directions on each application.
However, the NFB of PA offers more than just monetary
help to blind students. We also sponsor an active Student Division where
blind students can network with other successful blind students both locally
and nationally, who can be of help in providing solutions to those unique
problems facing them. The NFB of PA also promotes a division for parents of blind
children. This Division provides information, support, and advocacy for
parents trying to aid their blind children with their educational needs at all

behavioral, or social science health related research.

The Freedom Forum / NCAA Sports Journalism Scholarship Program
The Freedom Forum and NCAA will award eight sports journalism
scholarships in 2006-2007 worth $3000 each.
Applicants must be in their junior year, so the scholarship can assist them
in their senior year of study. The program is designed to foster
freedoms of speech and press while promoting quality sports journalism
education at the collegiate level.
