Heather Eckels met with Karen Kelly and Amy Wisor from Big Brother / Big Sisters of Blair County to discuss enrollment issues. BB/BS suggested their organization would consider an enrollment of 5-6 participants as a success.

Jill Maurer, Julie Ivory, Lori Stangl and Heather Eckels held an open information session under the pavilion located in the center of the Fairview Hills housing complex. We were able to enroll one participant.
Jill Maurer and Heather Eckels met with Jennifer Knisely of the Altoona Public Library to discuss enrollment issues. APL suggested that we post flyers at Memorial Pool as well as hand out flyers to children attending the school lunch program at AAHS and McCauliffe Heights.

Jill Maurer and Heather Eckels attempted to hand out YELL flyers to kids attending the school-to-lunch program at McCauliffe Heights. We were informed that all flyers must first go through the Superintendent’s Office for approval. We are awaiting authorization.
Jill Maurer and Heather Eckels met with Sarah Pipetti of Blair Family Solutions to recruit participants from their program. BFS is currently running their own summer programming but will make an effort to have some of their clients participate on an intermittent basis.

Heather Eckels made contact with Mark Derubeis of the Altoona School District to ascertain whether any of their students would be interested in attending the Y.E.L.L program. Mark will provide potential participants with our flyers and contact information.
